Use your Rowenta steam iron to remove paint

In an attempt to save money and feel like we contributed to the end result, we do it alone or enlist the help of others to help with a painting project. No matter how careful we try to be, we end up getting paint on something we didn't want painted.

If we act quick, we can get it up before it dries. But, true to form, we miss spots. Well, rather than use the old way of using a butter knife or some other surface marring object to scrape dried paint, why not try this first.

This works well with latex paint, but may also work in a pinch  with oil. Fill your steam iron and consider the surface you're dealing with throughout this procedure. you could damage plastic surfaces or discolor others.

Test setting the temperature setting and set for maximum steam out put. Hover the steam iron over the item starting at six inches and decrease according to surface tolerance to heat.

Push the steam button periodically to increase steam's output. Use a cloth to see if the heated paint will come up. If not, continue to use heat and steam and lightly use a blunt flat object to lightly scrape over paint spot. With oil paints, you may be able to rub the spot with vegetable oil to help soften and moisten the paint and try to wipe or lightly scrape using the same method for latex paint.

This procedure can alleviate the need for harmful chemicals or scarring your surface with hard objects.
