Use your Rowenta steam iron to help loosen mineral deposits
Hard water is all around us. there are few places immune to its embrace. It can discolor your clothing. Stain your
sinks and countertops. And it can freeze up faucets. Rather than stripping your threads by trying to pry loose a
water tap. Why not try this first.
1) Fill your Rowenta steam iron and place it on its highest temperature and steam
setting.
2) Hover the steam iron over the water tap. Take care not to melt any plastic pieces.
3) Allow the steam to penetrate into the seals and threads.
4) Apply a penetrating oil to help loosen rust and deposits.
5) Use steady, even pressure to unscrew the tap
6) If there's no concern of melting plastic, you may place the steam iron directly on the tap pressing the steam
button to generate more steam. there may be enough heat produced to expand the seals and metal that when it cools
it frees itself enough to give way without stripping the threads.
